We wanted to camp near some hot springs just over Lewis Pass, but we couldn’t find them. Instead we camped at a rest area where I took this shot.
It’s already starting to get cold at night, especially in the mountains. As you can see in the next picture, the leaves are starting to turn colors…
The glacial water is a brilliant aqua color, especially when the sun shines on it.

Here’s the view from Wanaka, looking over the lake.
About 22 kilometers from Wanaka is Lake Hawea where we stopped for lunch…
And here’s where we are now in Arrowtown. This is the main drag early in the morning.

Great to hear from you again...and see what you've been up to. What have you found out about the schools? I am also interested in the Steiner/Waldorf and Montessori ones. Are there any and are they hugely expensive with massive waiting lists like they are here?

There is a Steiner pre-school and primary school in Motueka. There's no waiting list, and they're not expensive. It's the only Steiner school in a small town in New Zealand. All the other Steiner schools are in larger cities (cities by NZ standards anyway).
