On the move again

Quinne and I are back in New Zealand after a few weeks in Colorado. The day before we left for the US, we moved into a new house. Well, we didn't really move in, but we moved our stuff to the new house and spent one night there with our stuff in the caravan. The house we had been renting was not quite what we were looking for. It was great to be in a new house, but it felt more like a hotel than a house in rural New Zealand. We wanted something with more soul, and we found it.

The new place is in Upper Moutere, which is closer to Nelson and 25 minutes from Motueka. The owners put the property up for sale, but couldn't get the price they were asking and decided to rent it instead. There's an old hop kiln that's been converted to a house that we'll manage while they rent it out to holiday makers. That's where Quinne and I are staying at the moment. We'll stay here until our stuff arrives around the 7th of July. Here's a picture of the hope kiln...

Here's a picture of the master bedroom in the hop kiln...

When our container arrives, we'll move into the house. Here's the house...

Here's a closer view with fresh snow on the mountains...

The bathroom is quite magnificent with the ever-so-important claw-foot tub...

And throne...

We're next to the well recognized Neudorf vineyards. They have a beautiful garden to sip their superb wine and have a meal overlooking the vineyards in. We'll need to get a baby monitor with a good range.

There's also a barn and a studio on our eight-acre property overlooking rolling farmlands with the mountains behind. I'll use the studio for my office and the barn for a studio.

We're looking forward to getting chickens and maintaining the already established veggie garden.

Amy and Beck are still in the states, and will return on Saturday. Amy's in San Francisco staying with her friend Andrea. Quinne and I miss them and can't wait to have them back.

Beck's first haircut

Beck went under the scissors yesterday for his first haircut. He loved it. The only trouble was trying to leave.

He wanted his nails done also.

On Vacation

We're on vacation. We're using our return ticket to enjoy a few weeks of summer in the middle of winter. We're in Colorado until the 16th of June. It feels good to be back in summer.
